Ocean
Shores Marina and RV Park
|
The
Ocean Shores Marina is located at the tip of the 6 miles peninsula
at Grays Harbor. Although small in comparison to Westport,
it is home to several private fishing and crabbing boats. It
is also the departure point for the passenger ferry, the El
Matador which makes scheduled trips to and from Westport starting
Memorial Day and going through till Labor Day. The 45 minute
cruise is great for young and old – harbor seals and
gulls are a welcome sight, and if you’re lucky you might
spot a gray whale migrating north.
The RV Park located at the marina has 99 sites – with full hook-ups. If
you’re looking for peace, tranquility and an awesome view – this
is it! |
Oyehut

Relaxation
|
| There
has got to be something said for escaping from the world and
listening to the crack of the fireplace, the roar of the waves
and nothing else. Well maybe walking barefooted along the beach
kicking at the waves and watching the gulls playing on the
beach. Grab a book you keep promising to read and your best
friend…whether they be human or furry and find total
relaxation and peace of mind in Ocean Shores. |

Romantic
Getaways
|
What
could be more romantic than laying in front of a fire, watching
the surf and cuddling with the one you love? Maybe sitting
in a hot tub sipping champagne and watching the stars...or
walking hand in hand on the beach...or watching the waves crash
on the jetty?
All these things are possible in Ocean Shores - check out the Romantic
Getaways on our Lodging page. |

Shopping
|
Shopping is
one of America's #1 past times and Ocean Shores has plenty
of different ways to pass the time. The beach has art galleries
that feature local artists...book stores that feature local
authors ...stores that sell shells...stores that make homemade
fudge and ice cream and stores that sell ships and glass balls
... and a store where you can make your own jewlery.
This is just a small sampling of some of what we offer here
on the beach.
Check out the variety of gift and specialty shops on the business page or surprise
yourself when you get here. We leave it up to you! |

Sightseeing
|
Ocean
Shores has plenty of sights to keep most visitors content,
however if you find yourself wondering what the little town
across the bay from the Marina is all about...hop on the passenger
ferry and visit the quaint little fishing town of Westport.
There you will find unusual gift shops, fine food and more.
If you like to drive -- travel up State Route 109 and visit the tiny towns of
Pacific Beach and Moclips. The views from up on the bluffs will take your breath
away!
The Olympic National Forest is
only a short drive away and this area offers a little of everything from camera
ready scenery and log cabin restaurants to the Hoh Forest and Sol Duc Hot Springs.
You might want to spend a couple days here to soak it all in. |
|
Storm
Watching
|
You
may ask yourself what would make someone travel to Ocean Shores
in the middle of a storm? Well, thousands of people each season
come down to sit by a cozy fire and watch the storm from the
comfort of their hotel room or beach house. With its’ 60-100
mph winds, horizontal rain and 20-25 foot wave swells it is
truly an awesome sight to see.
Try it out this year and you’ll make it an annual event, too. |
|
Surfing & Boogie
Boarding
|
When
the waves are pounding down by the North Jetty, occasionally
you will spot the rare but courageous surfer or boogie boarder.
Keep in mind that due to the fact that the waters off the coast
are laced with rip currents – it is dangerous to be in
the ocean at all, however if you are aware of them and know
how to deal with a current you will be fine.
North Coast Surf Shop offers sales and rentals of both surf boards and boogie
boards….check them out. |
|
Swimming
|
While
swimming in the surf is not recommended, there are plenty of
other options available. Nearly every lodging facility in Ocean
Shores has a pool, and there are excellent parks with swimming
areas around Duck Lake.
Please
heed the signs regarding swimming in the rip currents and don’t
become a statistic for our surf rescue team. |
Walking on the Beach |
The all-time favorite activity enjoyed by both visitors and local residents, is simply walking the beach. Ocean Shores is home to six miles of wide open public sandy beaches backed by pristine dunes and environmentally sensitive dune grasses. There's nothing as relaxing as walking along the beach to roar of the Pacific surf and the cry of seagulls overhead. Simply put, Ocean Shores is the perfect place to rekindle the spirit and soothe the soul. Enjoy.

Whale
Watching |
During the early months of spring, if you are looking out at the North Jetty or out at the bay towards Westport – there is a good chance you might see a blast of water in the air or a fluke splashing back down into the sea. This would be the pod of gray whales that take up residency in the waters south of Ocean Shores every year.
So bring your binoculars and find yourself a room with a view – and maybe you’ll get lucky.
